4/21/2006     iota Awarded NFPF Grant
The iota Center has been awarded a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation for the preservation of 5 films by Adam Beckett.
Further information on iota's Adam Beckett Film Preservation project can be found here.
This is the 10th grant awarded to iota by the NFPF since 2000.



2/28/2006     Abstraction and Visual Music
The iotaCenter presents a screening of abstraction and visual music at the James Bridges Theatre on the UCLA campus. Artists such as Vibeke Sorensen, Michael Scroggins and Kathy Smith will be present to discuss their work.

9/28/2005     New DVD Release
Visual Music From iota, Volume 1 is now available at the Online Store.

Visual Music from iota, Volume One is a compilation of contemporary work contributed by members of iota’s email discussion group. This collection reflects the variety and complexity of contemporary artists working in Visual Music and abstract animation.

Includes works by Andrew D. Lyons, Michael Betancourt, Michael Mantra, Emile Tobenfeld, Mavie Cahn, Nancy Herman, Bill Alves, Beth Warshafsky, and Rey Parla.

After a great many obstacles, the iotaCenter Discussion Forum is finally up. It's open to all visitors, so please feel free to contribute comments and ideas relating to visual music or the iotaCenter community.

7/25/2005     New Website Launched
Under the direction of Jeremy Schwartz, iota webmaster, The iotaCenter has a completely redesigned website. Using the open source software, Plone and Zope, Jeremy has produced an easily navigable site that is infinitely expandable. Currently you can see all of iota's activities over the past 10 years. Our plans for the future include adding more information about visual music artists, their works, and allowing members of our community to add comments and content.
