This DVD presents two new films and two documentaries by Joanna Priestley. Included on the DVD is "Utopia Parkway" (animated sculptures and drawings, inspired by the boxes of artist Joseph Cornell), "Surface Dive," a visually striking abstract film inspired by a diving trip in a freshwater lake in the Yucatan, "Andaluz," an homage to the culture, landscape, and architecture of southern Spain, "Dew Line," "The Rubber Stamp Film," "The Dancing Bulrushes," "Fighting Gravity," "Jade Leaf" and "Kali Yuga." The two documentaries feature a tour of Joanna Priestley's studio and an interview with sound genius Lance Limbocker.

Utopia Parkway – 5 min. Sound by Jamie Haggerty. Animated sculptures and drawings, inspired by the boxes of artist Joseph Cornell, who lived on Utopia Parkway.

Surface Dive – 7.5 min. Dolby Digital. Sound by Lance Limbocker and Drew Canulette “A visually striking abstract film inspired by a diving trip in a freshwater lake in the Yucatan. More the 600 sculptures, 200 glass pieces and 2200 drawings combine to fashion a work of dazzling detail and complexity.” –Bill Foster, Northwest Film Center

Andaluz - 6 min. Dolby Digital. Co-directed with Karen Aqua. Sound by Lance Limbrocker. Music by Juanito Pascual and Ken Field. “Short but sweet, this new animated tribute to southern Spain is just six minutes long, but the tale spans centuries.” –Cheryl Sinapis, Boston Globe.

Dew Line – 5 min. Dolby Digital. Sound by Jamie Haggerty. An abstract collision of juicy colors and odd botanical shapes.

The Rubber Stamp Film – 7 min. Sound by R. Dennis Wiancko. “A hundred little stories are told as the images zip by the collaged soundtrack of voices and musical fragments. Pure delight!” –Melinda Ward, Walker Art Center

The Dancing Bulrushes – 5 min. Co-directed with Steven Subotnick. Music by Miroslav Tadic. A traditional Ojibwa tale about the trickster/hero, Coyote, that used backlit sand animation as its medium.

Big Bonus Jade Leaf – 5 min. Music by Howard Richman. “Priestley’s abstract painting has a wonderful graphic flow, not completely geometric, yet not completely organic.” –Phil Borsos, Northwest Film and Video Festival Juror.

Kali Yuga – 5 min. A performance/animation collaboration with composer Joseph Waters and Fear No Music. Pixillation of a yogi/rock climber with animated household tools, bolts, screws and nails.

Fighting Gravity – 13 min./documentary. A tour of Joanna Priestley’s studio and a behind the scenes look at how Surface Dive and Utopia Parkway were made.

Interview with the Sound Guy – 8min./documentary. Interview with the sound genius Lance Limbocker. (Andaluz, Surface Dive, Pro and Con and Grown Up).
